Operator, Are You There?
Tutorial
First phrase is "Hello" -> "Kon'nichiwa" こんにちは
Second phrase is "Playstation" -> "Pureisutēshon” プレイステーション
Third phrase is "Operator's Side" -> "Operētā zusaido" オペレーターズサイド
Tutorial Commands
"Walk" -> "Aruke" 歩け
"Run" -> "Hashire" 走れ
"Stop" -> "Tomare" 止まれ
Tutorial: "Next, lets try identifying a destination"
"Go to the table" -> "Tēburu ni itte" テーブルに行って
"Look at the bottle" - > "bin mitte" ビンみて
"Check out the wine bottle" -> "Wain o shirabero" ワインを調べろ
"Go back" -> "Modore" 戻れ
COMBAT TRAINING
"Shoot/Hit" -> "Ute" うて
(this is a command you can use any time you are locked on to a target)
"Left" - > "Hidari" 左
"Dodge" -> "Yo kero" よけろ
"Dodge and hit" -> "Yo kete, ute" よけて, うて
"Flee and recover" -> "Nigete, kaifuku" 逃げて、回復
"Shoot, shoot, shoot" -> "Ute, ute, ute" うて、うて、うて
The Tutorial will instruct you how to target numbered enemies, as well as the voice over saying numbers in Japanese. "Ichiban", "Niban".
"Shoot the back, reload" -> "Senaka, Ute, Rirōdo" せなか、うって、リロード
"Stomach" -> "Hara" はら
The tutorial will only instruct you to attack the stomach "Hara" はら but if you're curious, here were the other targets. All target info can be found in Quick Commands.
"Back" -> "Senaka" 背中
"Mouth -> "Kuchi" 口
"Stomach" -> "Hara" 腹 / はら
If it struggled to detect your voice or if you got "Bad" often, remember the note about Rs and Ds in Getting Started, adjust your microphone placement (if you are too close it catches a lot of breath/feedback that can easily make your diction unrecognizable), or speak in a lower or higher register.
THIS IS WHERE THE MAIN STORY BEGINS!
Cutscenes will play explaining that something attacked the space station. When it cuts to Rio, remember to interact and accept/unlock things with the SQUARE button.
Rio will ask who is there, and you just have to let her know you're there.
You can say pretty much anything, but go with "Hai" (Yes) if you're in a hurry (she'll likely sass you for acting too casual), or "Daijōbu desuka?" 大丈夫ですか?
When she falls to the ground before the first encounter:
"Get up!" -> "Okiro!" 起きろ or else you'll be hurt.
FIRST BATTLE
Focus on taking out left eye, right eye, middle eye first
(the targets shown on the left of the display).
"Right eye" -> "Migime" 右目
"Left eye" -> "Hidarime" 左目
"Middle eye" -> "Chūō no me" 中央の目 (don't worry if you struggle)
("Mouth" -> "Kuchi" 口 is the last symbol on the left)
Then we're going to shoot the red eye:
"Red eye" -> "Aka me" 赤い目
(Back "Senaka" 背中 and Tail "Shippo" 尻尾 are the other commands on the right)
HEALING: "kaifuku" 回復 or "Nigete, kaifuku" 逃げて、回復
AFTER FIRST BATTLE
1. Rio asks your girlfriend's name. Her name is Sayaka さやか (Mariko まりこ gets a special interaction because it's the voice actress' name.)
2. Rio asks if you'll help her, say "Yes" -> "Hai" はい or "Understood" -> "Wakatta" わかった. You can also say No "Iya" いや / No Way "Iya-da" いやだ if you want the cutscene where she shoots you and you start over.
3. She needs you to repeat "consultation" after this -> "Sōdan" 相談 and when she says "Wakatta?" (Understood?) say "Hai".
THE SECURITY ROOM
Tips: If you walk up to a table by accident or want to step away from an interaction, say "Go back" -> "Modore" 戻れ (if you're having trouble say "Exit" -> "Deguchi" 出口). To stop her from walking around, say "Tomare" 止まれ. To go to the save, "sēbu pointo" セーブ ポイント.
1. Go to the lockers -> "rokkā" ロッカー and get the chip from "rokka ichiban" (locker one). (You can also say "memo" for the note on the locker but not important). Or say "Ichiban hidari no tobira o akero" 一番左の扉を開けろ if the short version isn't working.
2. "Modore" (Go back) and go to the Vending Machines -> "Jidō hanbaiki" 自動販売機.
To get the vending machine item, say "Second slot from the right" -> "Migi kara ni-banme no toridashi-guchi" 右から2番目の取り出し口. This will get you the keyword "maiku chekku" マイクチェック . Saying this at any time will have Rio respond how well she can hear you, but you also see your recognition level top left. It is a good word to help you tell how far your mic is and what pitch you should speak in/how loud.
3. Go to Detention Room 1 -> "Kōchi-shitsu ichi" for a Heal Capsule "Hiru Kappusuru" then leave the room to the hallway ("deguchi").
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY
If she ever misunderstands you, say "Tomare" immediately; to run say "Hashire". If you're going to a "room" "-shitsu" and its misunderstanding you a lot say "-hitsu".
1. Go to Shutter 9 -> "Shattā Kyu" "Hashire". This will start a very small battle! There are 2 basic slugs and "Hara" is the most useful word.
"Back" -> "Senaka" 背中
"Mouth -> "Kuchi" 口
"Stomach" -> "Hara" はら
After this point, find combat information for "baby slug" in Quick Commands.
2. When the battle is done, say "Shattā Kyu" again for a heal capsule.
3. Go to Guest Room 1 -> "Kyaku-hitsu Ichi" (Kyakushitsu really, but the first S is nearly silent). Fight 3 baby slugs. Resume travel to guest room 1 and you'll be met with a manual lock.
GUEST ROOM 1
Guest rooms are full of English loan words so it should be easy.
1. Go to the Living Corner -> "Ribingukōnā" リビングコーナー , say "attaché case" -> "atasshukēsu" アタッシュケース. Then say "open the attaché case" -> "atasshukēsu o akero" アタッシュケースをあけろ This will give you the command Zoom Up "zūmuappu" ズームアップ (it zooms in. Mostly pointless). Sebupointo if worried about dying.
2. Open the door to the next room -> "Tobira o akeru to kogata" 扉をあけると. Start a battle! After this, a cutscene where Manager Tanaka is rude to Rio will begin.
3. Go to the bed -> "Beddo" ベッド for a heal capsule.
4. Go to the "doressa" and "Shoot the mirror" -> "Kagami o utsu" 鏡を撃つ. (This doesn't do anything, it's just fun) and "Trunk" -> "Toranku" トランク for a chip.
5. Bathroom -> "Basurūmu", then Sink -> "Senmen-dai", and Under the sink -> "senmen-dai no shita" 洗面台の下 for the shutter key.
(Wanna shoot another mirror? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
6. "Tomare" after and sēbu pointo if you haven't. If you've done everything you want, "Deguchi" to leave and intercept a message.
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY
1. Go to shutter 7 -> "Shattā nana" to use your new shutter key. Open with manual/square commands. You will encounter a red eye slug!
"Right eye" -> "Migime" 右目
"Left eye" -> "Hidarime" 左目
"Middle eye" -> "Chūō no me" 中央の目
"Red eye" -> "Aka me" 赤い目
"Mouth" -> "Kuchi" 口
"Back" -> "Senaka" 背中
"Tail" -> "Shippo" 尻尾
After this point, refer to the Quick Commands under "red-eye slug".
2. Go to any room past shutter 7. "Shatta yon" or "kyakushitsu san" work. You'll be stopped by a scream so it doesn't matter which. Rio will start running and you will have open mic where you can talk but nothing you say here really matters ("Run!" ["I am running!"], "Be careful!", etc.)
3. When the shutter key prompt shows up, press square, select "close" (->), press square again. In the cutscene after she'll encounter Muto-san (Gino in the English version).
4. Go to Guest Room 2 -> "Kyaku-hitsu Ni"
GUEST ROOM 2
1. Open the Trunk panel/Storage -> "Torankurūmu" トランクルーム.
2. "Living Corner" -> "Ribingukōnā" リビングコーナー. Inspect the gloves -> "Tebukuro" 手袋 for the keyword "rōkikku" (low kick, used for combat if something is near your feet). The dress (doressu) is also here, which you can inspect to see it says
"XX - XX I" "vingt vingt-et-un". This means "twenty twenty one" in french.
3. Go to the dresser -> "doressā" ドレッサー to start a battle with 3 baby slugs. Remember, if you need to turn around in combat say "ushiro!"
4. (Optional) "Tēburu" and then "Katarogu" to see the vingt vingt-et-un catalogue. "Katarogu o yomu" カタログを読む (or Katarogu o akero) to read it. "Shitai" 死体 to view corpse. "Modore" to leave table.
5. Go to the bed -> "Beddo" and say "Beddo o utsu"( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) . Then the Stand -> "Sutando" スタンド for chip (if you have trouble, say "shirabete o sutando").
6. Say "Safe" -> "Kinko" then manual (square) over to the safe and enter "2021" (vingt vingt-et-un). "Deguchi" to leave after (save if needed).

"Shoot the bed? Okay!"
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY AND GUESTROOM 3
1. Go to Guest Room 3 -> "Kyaku-hitsu San" and manual open the door. Immediately say "Behind" -> "ushiro" 後ろ when entering to save yourself from losing health. Battle baby slugs! Reminder: if commands are becoming hard, do maiku chekku to see if your mic placement is good. Use even tone and volume.
2. "Beddo" or "Doressā" to go to the next room to start a new battle! Remember "rōkikku" if they get too close!
3. Dresser -> "Doressā". Under the dresser -> "doressā no shita" ドレッサーの下 for heal capsule. Cigar case -> "Shigākēzu" シガーケーズ and then Open cigar case -> "Shigākēzu o akete" for a chip. "Kagami o utsu" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and "Deguchi" once you're done here.
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY
1. Go to shutter 3 -> "Shattā San" and unlock it manually. Fight the red eye slug! Rio will go to the sun suite right after.
2. Rio will say the first half of the password "even the shadow you cast in sunlight..."). It prompts you to say something. You can say "watashi wa dokusen shitai" (the right password) but it'll tell you that you don't "actually" have the password yet so it doesn't matter what you say. We'll return to the password later.
Fun fact: this is translated as "I want to monopolize" in the english version, but in context it means more like "I want you all to myself" or "I want to be exclusive". It's often used in a possessive sense in relationships.
3. Go to guest room 4 -> "Kyaku-hitsu yon" 客室4 and manual open it. Be prepared for a fight with a new enemy.
GUEST ROOM 4
New combat enemy! Hand-tongues!
"Front legs" -> "Ma-yashi" 前足
"Body" -> "dōtai" 胴体
Hind legs -> "Ushiroashi" 後ろ足 ("ushidashi" to make it easier)
"Mouth -> "Kuchi" 口
"Tongue" -> "shita" 舌
"Inner mouth" -> "kuchi no naka" 口の中
"Eye" -> "medama" 目玉
"Inner mouth" is their well known weak point and easiest to hit. Their weakness is based on their animations. You can say a command and keep holding circle until you see the animation that has an opening. Example: I press circle, say "kuchi no naka", keep holding until they are dancing around with mouth open, then let go of circle when they're ready to whip that tongue out.
1. Immediately "sebupointo" after this, especially if you're hurt. Go to Living Corner -> "Ribingukōnā" and inspect the Rations -> "Hijō shoku" 非常食 for a heal capsule. Then say "Behind the Sofa" -> "Sofā no ushiro" ソファーの後ろ for the password you need. Finish up with "Beddo" for Chippu.
2. (Optional but adds a minigame) Go to the dresser -> "Doressā". Say Invitation -> "Kanyuu" 勧誘 or "Jotai-jo" 招待状 to notice the letter on the desk. Say "jōtaijō no uragawa" or "jōtaijō, ushiro"
You have now unlocked the Yamanote Line Game "Yamanotesen Gemu" 山の手線ゲーム.
If you say "Yamanotesen Gemu" any time Rio is not interacting with a specific area (like in front of a table or bed), she'll say "ok! Lets play the Yamanotesen Gemu!" This works functionally like "Categories" in English, but you'll need the Yamanote Guide to win, unless you're a god who knows every tokugawa shogunate. This is not the healing minigame, this is just for brownie points.
3. Deguchi after this to the hallway.
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY and THE SUN SUITE
1. Go to the sun suite -> "Taiyō no ma" and use the password that you got. Her part is "even the shadow you cast in sunlight" -> "taiyō ga tsukuridasu anata no kagebōshi sae mo" and yours is "I want to monopolize" (more accurately, "I want it all for myself") -> "watashi wa dokusen shitai". When it comes time for you to both say it together, say "taiyō ga tsukuridasu anata no kagebōshi sae mo watashi wa dokusen shitai". There's no punishment for failure and the (english speaking) ship AI will sass you so it's kinda funny.
2. Tomare immediately when getting in to the Sun Suite to stop Rio from wandering as there are enemies here. Go to the "basurumu" or "ni-kai" to begin a battle with the red-eyed slug. You will need the additional words like mouth and tail this time so be sure to reference the Quick commands page.
3. When the battle is finished, "ni-kai" again to visit the second floor and meet a definitely dead guy. You can tell its 2003 because his jeans have a little chain loop on them and he's wearing a puffy ill-fitting vest with a popped collar.
4. You can save now if you feel like it, "Lounge" -> "Raunji" ラウンジ and "Fruit" -> "furūtsu" フルーツ for a chip. "Toilet" -> "Toire" トイレ -- to go back upstairs for a special keyword and a heal capsule.
5. When you've arrived at the toilet room: oh boy another mirror to shoot ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) , Say "toiletbowl" -> "Benki" 便器 and then "close the lid" -> "futa o shimero" フタを閉めろ to get the combat command "jū mawase" (gun spin?). "Beside the toilet" -> "Benki no yoko" 便器の横 for the heal capsule.
6. Deguchi on outta here, cowboy.
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY and THE EQUIPMENT STORAGE ROOM
1. Go to the tool/equipment room -> "Yōgu-hitsu" 用具室 which will take Rio past a shutter you need to manual open.
2. Tomare to stop moving after the little chat with Rio. Go to the unit with the lift information -> "Kensaku yunitto" 検索ユニット and look at the paper with the lift information -> "Harigami" 張り紙.
3. Go to the equipment shelf -> "Bihin yunitto" and identify the lift power device with "rifuto dengen", then manually turn it from OFF to ON (in case you need to identify the lift panel, its "rifutopaneru"). Press the lift panel to have Rio climb on. (If you don't like her being mad at you, you can ask her to get on first with "Rifuto ni noru")
4. Use the lift and "Search the shelf" -> "Tana o sagase" on any shelf you're interested in, but the one on the right with the obvious item is the one we're after with magnesium chips. Lower her back down and Modore or Deguchi to get off, but make sure to manually turn the lift power OFF before continuing.
5. Go to the Misc Unit -> "Zakka yunitto" 雑貨ユニット , turn the lift on and use the panel. Go up 1 and say "Tana o sagase" again to get a chip. Go top right to get the combat phrase "Chōhatsu" 挑発 (taunt). Get Rio off the lift however you like and turn the power off manually.
6. IF YOU ARE OUT OF HEAL CAPSULES: go to the SHOKUHIN YUNITTO for a freebie. If you have 1 heal capsule and are at less than max health: use the heal ("Kaifuku"), leave the room, re-enter and approach the shokuhin yunitto again. There will now be a free heal waiting for you.
"Deguchi", we're just going across the hall.
MEDICAL BAY
1. Go to the medical bay -> "Imu-hitsu" (or Imu-shitsu) 医務室 right across from the equipment room.
2. Rio is going to ask you what objects you can think of that are commonly found in a medical bay, (chemicals "Kagaku yakuhin" being the first thing to mention) here are some other things to say:
包帯 / hōtai / Bandages
ガーゼ / gāze / Gauze
アルコール / arukōru / Alcohol
看護婦 / kangofu / Nurse
血圧計 / ketsuatsu-kei / Blood pressure monitor
手袋 / tebukuro / Gloves
3. She'll move to the second half of the room and ask you about what kind of weapon you could find or make here with chemicals to help defeat the monster from earlier. The answer is "molotov cocktail" -> "Kaen Bin" (like "Kye en bean" if you have trouble). There is a huge list of other weapons she'll react to, but I'll keep it brief and say my favourites are naginata なぎなた, gatling gun (gatoringugan) ガトリングガン, machine gun (sounds the same) マシンガン and "Rio" リオ (lol).
4. Let's go get "sexy pose" and an ID card. Travel to the desk -> "desuku" デスク. Show Rio the computer -> "pasokon" パソコン . Power on the computer manually and she'll look at the screen and learn "Sexy Pose" -> "sekushīpōzu" セクシーポーズ .
(Oh, like this? "Kon'na kanji kashira" こんな 感じ かしら). Next, check the drawer -> "Hikidashi" 引き出し . Leave the desk.
5. Go to Case One -> "Kēsu Ichi" and say "ID kādo" (ID Card) then manual open for a heal capsule. She'll leave after she picks it up.
6. Go to Case Five -> "Kēsu Go" and manual open the cases.
If you ever accidentally go to the operating table, she asks you if you have bad memories. You can say yes "hai" or no "iya" and then she asks you if they're good or bad. You can pretty much say anything relevant to get out of it.
7. Go to Case 3 -> "Kēsu San", open it manually, and then Save and Deguchi.
If you haven't been making saves up to this point (either with sebupointo or in other ways) make sure to really do so now. The next part is easy to die on.

No Tongue Twisters in This One...
EXPLORING THE HALLWAY
The keyword here is "Nagero!"
1. Go to shutter 4 -> "Shattā yon".
2. Danger! When you get up to the shutter and are ready for a timed event, say "hai" when rio asks if you're ready. Manual open the shutters and WAIT to throw the cocktail! Count how many times the monster crawls on the ceiling. After 4 times it'll come back down to the middle of the floor; say "throw it!" -> "Nagero!" 投げろ. Now you're safe and a totally normal guy named Joe Powers will introduce himself.
3. Make sure you're in the hallway pictured below, if not travel through "Shattā yon" to get there.
EXPLORING THE NEW HALLWAY and TOILETS
There are a lot of baby slugs you don't need to fight here. You're free to open stalls but it's best to stick to the ones listed below.
You're now in a new part of the hallway (see above "Hallway Map 2").
1. Go to the toilets -> "Toire" (Toy-deh if you need assistance) トイレ and just say "ie" (no) next time she asks a question. She'll walk and get scared by a music box.
2. She'll get scared, I told her "daijoubu" (its okay), then "go" -> "iku" (行く) and if she asks if it'll really be okay and you say "hai" (yes). She's just very scared and you have to reassure her, so any nice affirmatives will work. She's less easy to control in this section because she's scared.
3. "Sēbu pointo" and then Go to women's restroom -> "Josei toire" 女性トイレ . Saying "Josei toire" leads you to the stalls specifically, so if you stop her before doing this you can just say it again to resume travel to the stalls. For a heal capsule at the stalls, say "second from the left" -> "Hidari kara ni-banme" 左から2番目 (or "hidari kara ni-banme josei toire").
4. Say "Storage" -> "Monooki" 物置. Manual select and enter on the storage room "029". (You can get this code manually, but since you don't have to I'll just say it's behind one of the mirrors in the men's bathroom. I guess that's the entire reason why they let you shoot every mirror, because every mirror is coded the same.) There is a note and a pendant in the locker.
5. When in the women's washroom say "Women's Room Sink/Washbasin" -> "Josei Toire Senmen-dai" 洗面台. Then "waste basket" -> "Gomibako" ゴミ箱 and then "Gomibako no naka" ゴミ箱の中. This gets you the combat skill "Rensha" (Rapid Fire). If you want to shoot any of the mirrors here, you should be able to use extremely simplified versions of the command, like "ichi-banme kagami, ute" ni-banme, san-banme.
6. Say "memo" and then Read the note -> "Memo o yomu" メモを読む. You'll get a shutter key after this. Dansei-gawa 男性側 to explore men's bathroom and "Hidari kara ni-banme no koshitsu" for a chip.
GUEST ROOM 5 **HEALING MINIGAME**
1. Go to shutter five -> "Shattā go". Manual open the shutter and then go to Guest Room 5 -> "Kyakuhitsu Go". Prepare for a battle with one baby slug and one red-eye slug. Remember to use "Nigete" if you're backed into a corner.
2.The first room doesn't have anything useful, so go to the second room -> "Beddo".
The room is on fire, say "Bucket" -> "Baketsu", then "Shoot the bucket" -> "Baketsu ute" バケツを撃て (she may disagree a few times) and then "Shoot the fire extinguisher" -> "shōkaki ute" 消化器を撃て. Afterwards she'll pick up the shutter key automatically.
3. Go to the bed -> "beddo". Look at the bathrobe -> "Basurōbu" バスローブ. Look at the bathrobe pocket -> "Basurōbu no poketto" バスローブのポケット for a chip.
4. HEALING MINIGAME UNLOCK: Go to the bathroom -> "Basurūmu". Tell her to remove the wig -> "Katsura o tore" かつらを取れ. You'll earn "What's that?" -> "Nanda to a Nanda" なんだとはなんだ. We'll practice how to play this in brief right now. Deguchi to leave the bathroom, then Tomore in the bedroom to stay still while we practice.
Rio will ask you to name something you like. Her category might change (like she'll ask you what you like to do, or what you like to eat). It doesn't matter what it is, but you just have to pick a word. Saying "Rio" is easy, or "neko" (cat), or even "Oppai" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). There's probably an easter egg with some word here, but I'll have to find out later. Once you've said what you like, Rio will say "What's that?" (Nanda?). You'll say in response "What's what's that?" (Nanda to a nanda?) Rio will add one more Nanda (Nanda to a nanda to a nanda?) The goal is to keep it going by adding one more "Nanda?" on top without screwing up.
It's actually a fairly easy minigame, and much simpler than the English version. The camera does a comical zoom in every time a Nanda is added. I like how playful and immature it makes Rio seem; it reflects how she's still quite young despite all the stuff she has to go through. I'd recommend using this to heal a lot, unless you're doing a speedrun.
Once you've finished practicing the minigame, leave the room (deguchi).
EXPLORING HALLWAY 2
1. (Optional for extra healing if you're comfortable with the fights) Go to Shutter 8 -> "Shattā Hachi" to start a battle with two hand tongues. This can be hard, but if you defeat both of them without using a heal capsule, head to shutter 8 again and pick one up. Then use the "Nanda to a nanda?" game to regain any lost health. It can help to stockpile heal capsules for later, when you won't have time to minigame heal.
2. Go to shutter 6 -> "Shattā roku" and battle one red-eye slug. Remember to check the Quick commands page! Go to shutter 6 again once the fight is over and manual open the shutter. Rio will immediately enter the next room.
MOON SUITE
1. Rio enters the Moon Suite -> "Tsuki no ma" 月の間 with her gun raised. To not get attacked, say "Migi" (Right) when you see the man around the corner.
2. Say "shoot" -> "ute" when she asks what to do. To her next question, just answer "hai", "wakatta", etc. You won't be exploring the moon suite as it is immediately shut off afterwards.
EXPLORING HALLWAY 2 and ELEVATOR HALL 3
1. (Optional, healing) Go to shutter 12 -> "Shattā juu-ni" and get ready for a battle with one red-eye slug. Resume travel to shutter 12 to grab a heal capsule.
2. Go to the elevator hall -> "Erebētahōru" エレベータホール and prepare for a fight with a baby slug and hand-tongue. Use the healing minigame "nanda to a nanda?" if needed. Resume travel after to the same location.
3. When in the elevator hall, go to the elevator -> "erebētā" and fight one hand-tongue and red-eye slug. Resume travel to the elevator for a heal capsule.
4. Go to the loading dock -> "Han'nyū kone" - kone being short for konekushon - or "Han'nyūguchi" 搬入口 After the short cutscene you'll see two panels that you're asked to activate. Say "power panel" -> "Denryoku paneru" and then manually turn both on, then turn the middle panel on.
5. After Rio is done changing she asks for your cooperation again. Say "Hai" or "Mochiron" ("of course") もちろん
HALLWAY A/B and MANAGER STAFF ROOMS
1. We're entering a new hallway after changing clothes, "hallway A/B". Go to the Manager Staff Room -> "Kanri Staffu no Heya" 管理スタッッフの部屋 and manual open the door. You're safe for a while to save and roam if you're curious.
2. Go to the Galley -> "Gyarē" ギャレー. Say "shokki" 食器 for the plasticware with a heal capsule. Say "kitchinpēpā" キッチンペーパー to look at the kitchen paper which has another combat keyword "midare uchi" (random shot) 乱れ撃ち. This combat keyword cycles through the enemies' targets and should only be used if you're desperate or for a specific boss later.
3. Go to the stockroom -> "sutokkurūmu" ストックルーム and prepare for a battle. This battle is simple, the hardest aspect is the table in the middle. Remember "hidari" (left), "migi" (right), and "nigete" (flee). Return travel to the stockroom to fight the second wave of enemies.
4. Go to the lockers -> "rokkā" and open Jonathan's locker -> "rokkā hidari" (anything that highlights the lockers works). Manually enter code "1515155" to get a heal capsule. Open Gustav's locker with code "7994265" for a chip.
5. Go to the shower room -> "Shawārūmu" シャワールーム and say "Shampoo" for a heal capsule. After, go to the second floor -> "ni-kai" and then the balcony -> "barukonī". Check under the bench -> "benchi no shita".
6. Go to Jonathan's Room -> "jonasan no heya" and when prompted for a vocal password, say "ichigo no kyandi" イチゴのキャンディー. In the room, identify the computer -> "Pasokon" and then manually operate the PC. This grants you access to night vision camera needed for later sections.
7. Pick up the ID card -> "Shain-shō" 社員証 and leave.
8. (Optional) Go to Gustav's Room -> "Gusutafu no heya". The vocal password is Dichloromethane methylpentane "Nikurorosanmechirupentan" (go slow and break it down, nikurorosan - mechiru - pentan) ニクロロサンメチルペンタン
Heal if you're half health or less, save, and leave the room.
HALLWAY A/B 2 and WAIT STAFF LOUNGE
1. Go to any point at the end of the hallway to start a cutscene (e.g "Bee Chiten"). Then go to "Ay Chiten" (Point A) after the cutscene for a heal capsule. Go to the Waitstaff Lounge -> "Sekkyaku sutaffu no heya" 接客スタッフの部屋 and battle one red-eye slug outside. Proceed inside the lounge after the battle.
2. There is a major boss/new enemy type inside. This boss requires that you combine commands to fight it efficiently. Try "nekko, migime" (roots, right eye) to make the creature lift its leaf out of its eye and then quickly shoot it. You can basically take down the boss with 3 or 4 of these.
"Roots" -> "nekko" 根っこ
"Stalk" -> "kuki" くき
"Body" -> "dōtai" 胴体
"Leaves" -> "happa" 葉っぱ
"Right eye" -> "migime" 右目
"Middle eye" -> "chūō no me" 中央の目
"Left eye" -> "hidarime" 左目
"Ivy" -> "tsuta" つた
3. Rio will book it to her room and get depressed about all her stuff being destroyed. I said "Don't give up!" to her -> "Akiramenaide!" 諦めないで though anything similar may work.
4. She'll then forget what we were doing here. Say "Warehouse Card Key" -> "sōko no kādokī" 倉庫のカードキー . She'll get back on the lit after, and there's nothing else for us upstairs so just ride to the first floor and stop by the Galley -> "Gyarē" ギャレー for a heal capsule. At this point, if you've picked up most of the heal capsules, you should have between 6-9, depending on how much you're healing, how combat is going, and how often you do the "nanda?" minigame.
There are a lot of battles up ahead and we'll probably use quite a few heal capsules. Deguchi to the hallway after all preparations are complete (saving, minigame healing)
WAREHOUSE
1. Go to the warehouse in Point B -> "Sōko" 倉庫.
2. Rio will ask if you can see her (because you need the night vision you picked up in Jonathan's PC for this part). Say "Hai". She'll then test if you can see her by raising her hands. Say "migi" for her right hand, "hidari" for her left hand, and "Both hands are down" -> "Ryōte ga sagatte iru"* 両手が下がっている if she hasn't raised any (and "Ryōte o agete iru" if both are raised) Once you get it right she'll say "lets go" and immediately walk into a battle.
*This started giving me trouble second time around and it was super frustrating.
Fight the 3 hand-tongues that appeared. See the Quick Commands page under Hand-Tongues. Remember you can hold the Circle button and let go when you want the command to go off; so choosing inner mouth, then saying shoot and letting go right before they whip their tongue at you works great.
The areas in here are labeled [Letter]-[Number] Place, for example "A-Ichi Chiten", but you can skip saying "place" for every location.
3. Slowly make your way over to B2 -> "Bee Ni" (hehe beanie). You'll get into a fight with some baby slugs first! Senaka, Kuchi, Hara! "Bee Ni" again to fight another wave of hand tongues and baby slugs. "Bee Ni" AGAIN for another small wave of baby slugs. It's okay to use heal capsules here but try to limit it to 2-3 max. The worst part about the fights is spacing. Keep saying "Bee Ni" until you get there, there's - yes - another fight.
4. This time, when you say "Bee Ni" you'll actually get there! Here's your chip. Right after she picks it up, go to C1 -> "Cee Ichi". When she gets back on the floor you'll have another fight (I'm sorry). Keep going to "Cee Ichi" (if it gets mixed up with B, say "shee ichi"). After she sees the writing on the floor, say Tomare to stop moving.
You've picked up the command "Kyūkei taimu" 休憩タイム or "Break time"! This is a good command for people doing slow playthroughs or streaming it on multiple days. When you tell Rio to take a break with this command, she'll go to sleep and start passively healing. This is a really slow way of healing and isn't recommended to rely on, as you can heal as much as "Break time" does in 30 minutes with approximately three wins of the "Nanda" game. Nevertheless it's really handy if you're just casually playing or have downtime. She won't heal by sitting down without the command, so remember to say it if you step away for any period of time.
5. Go to area C2 -> "Cee Ni" and then manually turn the control panel ON. A cutscene will play. When asked by Rio what to do, say "Run!" -> "Nigero!" にげろ
HALLWAY B/C
1. Say Tomare to stop near the save point. Turn around and Go to Point A -> "Ay Chiten" for a heal capsule. You'll be fighting a new monster, so save if needed.
2. Go to Point C -> "Cee Chiten" (Shee Chiten) to encounter the Frogger. The enemy works similar to the "red eye slug". Attack the front legs to slow it down, then aim for sides, and when you need to target the stomach, you have to flip it over by attacking its mouth.
"Front legs" -> "Ma-yashi" 前足
"Left Side" -> "hidari wakibara" 左わき腹
"Right Side" -> "migi wakibara" 右わき腹
"Mouth -> "Kuchi" 口
"Red Stomach" -> "Akai Hara" 赤い腹
3. After Rio has picked up the launcher shell, go to Point B -> "Bee Chiten". She'll make a path by using the "Launcher" ( "Rancha" ランチャ).
DUCT
This is often considered one of the most frustrating parts. But let's try to take it nice and slow. You'll be faced with 3 paths - one blue, one red, one green - and need to jump between them. There are wobbly platforms (you'll fall) and platforms with steam (you'll only fall if the steam hits you). If you fall, remember to pick up the heal capsules in each section! "A Chiten", B Chiten" etc. It's actually beneficial for you to fall if you're comfortable healing with the "Nanda" game, but Rio will also be really impressed if you do it first try.
1. Rio will ask you to confirm ("hai" or "wakatta") after going over the colors, which are as follows:
Blue -> Burū ブルー
Red -> Reddo レッド
Green -> Gurīn グリーン
and
Stop -> Tomare 止まれ
Walk -> Aruke 歩け
2. After passing from A to B (the first walkway), the additional challenge of steam will be added. Make sure to use "stop" when needed. You'll also want to say "Isoide!" ("Hurry!") 急いで to get past steam on the green beam at the end.
WAITING ROOM
1. After entering the new corridor, go to the Waiting Room -> "Hikaehitsu" 控え室. You'll encounter the reporter here and have to select the right disk that Rio is looking for by color and shapes. The correct answer is "the red and blue star pattern" -> "Aka to ao no hoshi moyō" 赤と青の星模様
2. After viewing the disk, Rio will ask who you could show this to for help, answer "Mutō" (the guard known as Gino in EN). Her next question is if you'd like to know more about the stone; say "iya" if you're in a hurry and "hai" twice if you'd like her to say "actually you don't wanna know".
3. Go to the OA Booth -> "OA Būsu" and identify the Copier "Kopī-ki" コピー機. Then say "make a copy from the copier in front" -> "temae no kopī-ki no kopī o tore" 手前のコピー機のコピーをとれ. This will give you the combat command "janpu" (jump) which is useful in the future.
4. While still at the OA booth, look at the "Key Box" -> "Kībokkussu" キーボックッス then manually turn it on. Say the manager's name Jonathan Turner "Jonasan Tānā". This grants you the elevator key to the observation restaurant.
5. (Optional) Go to the vending machines -> "jidō hanbaiki". Say "benchi no shita" to look under the bench for the heal capsule. Say "bideokamera" to look under the video camera for a chip.
Leave the room and save if needed (deguchi, sebu pointo). If you haven't saved yet, in game or otherwise, now is a good time since a frustrating enemy is ahead.
ELEVATOR HALL 1
1. Walk to the elevator hall "Erebētāhōru" to begin combat with a new enemy (this enemy can be fought now or later, but since you just saved and likely still have a good amount of heal capsules, now seems like a great time). I'm just going to call him "Spike".
"Head" -> "Atama" 頭
"Left hand" -> "Hidarite" 左手
"Right hand" -> "Migite" 右手
"Mouth -> "Kuchi" 口
"Fin" -> "Tosaka" とさか
(actually means more like "cockscomb" the floppy lil
red part on a rooster, but the EN game calls it a "fin"
and I figured, y'know, that works.)
"Eye" -> "Medama" 目玉
"Horn" -> "Tsuno" つの
"JUMP" -> "janpu" ジャンプ important to load up/release to successfully jump waves.
This can be rough but is very cheeseable. When Spike warps, he'll come back and set off a wave that you'll need to successfully jump, so say "janpu, medama" while he's gone and then let go of circle when he's about to land to shoot his eye. Repeat this pretty much until he's dead. "Ushiro" will help you turn around to lock on to him. Admittedly, I don't have any strategy for when it switches to his mouth side ("kuchi"), because shooting the mouth doesn't do much, and trying to attack other parts makes the fight a lot longer. If you're far away enough when he does this, he will lunge and fall for a second which makes him vulnerable, but it's pretty hard to predict, and "nigete" (flee) can make you run basically anywhere.
2. Since you can't actually use the elevator at this point, go to the observatory restaurant -> "Tenbō resutoran".
RESTAURANT
1. Rio asks if you remember this place, say "Hai". It's the location from the beginning cutscene of the game. "Tomare" to stop her from walking about randomly after.
2. Go to Floor one -> "Furoa ichi" for a heal capsule.
3. For now, go to Floor two -> "furoa ni" to start a mini cutscene where Rio notices the other entrance is blocked off, then hears a noise from the chandelier. Use a launcher -> "rauncha" on the blockade. You'll need two more launcher shells to get through here. Floor two, three, and four have encounters with a chance to drop launcher shells and heal capsules. Each encounter will be 1 x "frogger" and 1 x slug, so remember front legs, left side, right side, mouth, red stomach.
4. Once you've fought every encounter in floors two, three, and four, you can save to reload each areas encounter. Feel free to do another lap to farm launcher shells (very useful for later boss) or heals. Occasionally the baby slug will be swapped out for a red eye slug, and the launcher will be swapped out for a heal capsule. I think you may eventually hit a launcher limit and only farm heals but not sure the limits on this. Use your launcher shells to clear the rest of the chandelier area and get the elevator key.
5. (Optional) The VIP seats have a chip, a heal capsule, and a combat command called "Ato wa yoroshiku" (leave it to me) 後はよろしく that will have Rio act autonomously in battle (I'm sure there's use for it, but I've never personally used it much). So if you don't need those, you can move to the elevator. If you are getting them, go to "veepo Shīto ni" and clear the way with a launcher shell. Resume travel after clearing the rubble for a chip at seat 2. Go to seat 3 "veepo shīto san" and identify the floor light -> "furoa raito" and tell rio to knock it over -> "furoa raito taosu". This grants the "Ato wa yoroshiku" (leave it to me) combat command. You can clear the way to VIP seat 4 "veepo shīto yon" for another heal capsule.
"Deguchi ichi" when you're done here, we now have the elevator key for the elevator we cleared out earlier.
ELEVATOR RIDE
Go to the "Erebētāhōru". Manually enter the code "0423" for the elevator (the code is found on the elevator passkey in ITEM A if curious). A cutscene of the elevator ride will play. Rio ruminates about the nature of space travel and humanity.
First question: "Are you really alive?"
("Hai" Yes, "Iya" No, or "Wakaranai" I don't know)
Second question: "What was the first word you were taught as a child?"
(This is super open ended, you can really say anything. If you want a word to say, try "Ai/Aisuru" love, "Watashitachi" we/us, or "Yūjō" friendship, or maybe even "kanojo" girl) Rio will tell you her first word after.
Third question: "what's your favourite word/phrase?"
(Once again open ended. You can use one of the words from above or try any other word you know. Let me know if you try something that gets a funny response! You can just say "Rio" if you want)
Fourth question: "Do you want to know more about me?"
("Hai" or "Iyada".)
ELEVATOR HALL 2
1. (Optional) If you have 4 or fewer heal capsules: Go to exit 2 -> "deguchi ni" to fight a red-eye slug and his 3 little sluglets. You can try out "Ato wa yoroshiku" after killing the red eye slug to mixed results if you wanna see how it operates. Heal yourself with the "Nanda" game to conserve heals. Continue to exit 2 after fighting to pick up a heal capsule.
2. Go to exit 1 -> "deguchi ichi" to enter the next corridor.
MANAGER'S AREA and REST ROOM
1. Go to the rest room -> "Resutorūmu" レストルーム (not like a bathroom, more like a casual room... of rest). You'll fight a red-eye slug on the way. He's a little stronger than the usual ones, so once you've shot your regular targets you'll mostly shoot his tail. Resume travel after.
2. There's a Spike waiting for you inside! Good luck! "Janpu", "Medama", etc.
3. (Optional but has heal capsule and combat word) Go to the galley -> "gyarē". There's 3 red-eye slugs to fight before you continue, but they're spaced out individually so it's easy to fight. Right eye, left eye, middle eye, red eye, tail, mouth. Continue travel to the galley and say "Kōhī" to look at the Kōhībaggu (coffee bags) for a heal capsule. Say "Kōcha" to look at the tea packets and get the combat command "Back Step" -> "Bakku suteppu" バックステップ
4. Go to the vending machines -> "Jidō hanbaiki". "Above the vending machine on the left" -> "Hidari no jihanki no ue" is a heal capsule. "Gomibako no naka" or "Gomibako, Akero" to open the trash bin for launcher shells.
5. Go to the table -> "Tēburu". Look at the "mug cup" -> "magukappu" マグカップ for a chip. After noticing the spilled coffee -> "Kōhī no kona", say "Kōhī no fuke" to reveal a manager room key.
6. (Optional) go to the TV -> "terebi" to fight 3 baby slugs and 1 red eye slug for a launcher shell. I don't know if this one is realistically worth it even though its a technically easy fight.
7. "Deguchi" to begin the next cutscene. You'll come face to face with Mutō who won't trust you. You need to say "ready/aim your gun" -> "jū o kamaero" or "shoot Mutō " -> "Mutō o utsu". She'll aim her gun, he'll accuse her of being a thief, etc. She'll exit to the corridor after.
Fun fact: there's a magazine on the rack beside the TV with Britney Spears on the cover. It's a real edition of Teen People magazine from February 2000. The cover below it is from the January 2000 cover of Elle (despite it being spelled EE LL here) featuring french-british singer/model/actress Lou Doillon. These were all replaced with fake story-relevant pamphlets in the English version. I didn't find the specific Linux World mag, but this DID teach me how they ALL had cute dogs/kittens on them.
MANAGER'S OFFICE
1. Go to the manager's office -> "Shihainin-hitsu" and fight 2 hand tongues and a slug. It's easy to get tongued to death here so if you're using "alternative saves" do so now. I would advise you against saying "dotai" for the hand tongues at this point because it gets mixed up with launcher for some reason. Resume travel to the manager's office.
2. You'll have to deal with 2 froggers and a MEGA FROGGER (they jump on the ceiling), Fight the froggers normally, but make sure the mega frogger has his hind legs taken out too. You can attack him as normal when he's on the ground. Mega Frogger gives a launcher shell. HEAL TO FULL. Either do the nanda game or use a heal capsule if you have a lot of them. This boss is rough.
3. The boss will grab you. Say "ute!" repeatedly until she shoots it; do this fast or you will lose health. Now it's time to fight the manager, Karen! Key to winning: "rauncha", "yo kero, midare uchi".
"Head" -> "Atama" 頭
"Left arm" -> "Hidariude" 左腕
"Right arm" -> "Migiude" 右腕
"Right foot" -> "Migiashi" 右足
"Left foot" -> "Hidariashi" 左足
"Tail" -> "Shippo" 尻尾
"Body" -> "dōtai" 胴体
"DODGE" -> "Yo kero" 避けろ important to use for his projectiles.
"Random shots" -> "midare uchi" 乱れ撃ち
"Launcher" -> "Rauncha"
The objective of this boss is to shoot every red target. All targets will be glowing at the start of the battle. To get his tail "shippo" wait until he's close, say "nigete" to run, and then "shippo" immediately once you've got a good line of sight on his behind.
Once you've hit all red targets, use a launcher "rauncha" to make them all red again and immediately say "midare uchi" (random shot) . The "second phase" is where he throws glowing projectiles at you. "Yo kero" will dodge you out of the way easily once you get the timing down. Immediately after he throws projectiles, a body part will light up red.
If you're worried you won't pick the right target in time, you can say "yo kero, midare uchi" altogether, then release when you need to dodge. Using your launcher more than once will make the fight relatively easy if you don't want to worry about the fight mechanics/are in a hurry.
4.(Optional) go to the desk -> "desuku". Say "read the document on the desk" -> "Tsukue no ue no shorui o yomu" to look down at the safe code. You can do the safe without seeing the code though.
5. There are some easy pickups in this area. Go to the management systems -> "Kanri shisutemu" to pick up launcher ammo. Go to the shower booth -> "shawābūsu" to pick up another. Go to the bed -> "beddo" and look at the pillow -> "makura" 枕 for a chip. You can look at the bookshelf -> "Hondana" 本棚 and check the photo -> "shashin" 写真 to get some keywords that you've missed if you've skipped them. (You will only get "camera check" if you've been following this guide fully).
6. Look at the safe while at the bed -> "Kinko". Then tell Rio to open the safe -> "Kinko o akero" as you cannot manually access it. The code is 4 left, 6 left, and 2 right, so we're going to say "Hidari ni yon" then "hidari ni roku" then "migi ni ni". She might ask again about "how many to the right?" at the end because that's 2 "ni" in a row and it's hard to catch.
Enjoy silly cutscene with English Station System Lady.
(save if you want before leaving the room)
EXHIBITION ROOM
1. Go to the exhibition room -> "tenji-hitsu" 展示室 . You'll have to time using the door cards with Rio. Say "Ready, go!" -> "Se ̄ no!" せーの when you want her to go. If you're struggling with timing, press "ON" at a slight delay behind when you think Rio will press it.
2. We're going to case 3 -> "keisu san" you'll fight a spike and a red-eye slug along the way. There aren't any items in the other cases, but there are enemies in between the other cases so don't bother with them. Once you get to case 3 Rio will notice the stone is missing.
4. You need to enter a passcode to defuse the system above Rio's head (press square on it to read TIME FUZE) but first you have to READ HER the instructions written on the time fuze popup. This is the first time you'll be forced to read full sentences, so good luck!
First instruction: "Honjitsu no nengappi no shimo ichi-keta o tashita sūji o nyūryoku suru". 本日の年月日の下一ケタを足した数字を入力する This is "add the last digits of today's date", so manually enter "15" when prompted.
Second instruction: "Sutēshon ni chekkuin shita gesuto no ninzū o nyūryoku suru" ステーションにチェックインした ゲストの人数を入力す. This is "enter the number of guests checked in at the station", so manually enter "50" when prompted. Rio will panic because she gives you the wrong info, but just enter 50 after that.
Third instruction: "Yōzan sōri no seinengappi no shimo ichi-keta o tashita sūji o nyūryoku suru" 鷹山総理の生年月日の下一ケタを足した数字を入力する. This is "enter the number obtained by adding the last digits of the Prime Minister's date of birth". Rio panics because of how crazy this one is. I said "Daijoubu desu ka?" (are you okay) to snap her out of it, you can probably also say "Ochitsuke" (calm down) and then after she's done pacing around like she has to poop, enter "15".
The next question Rio asks is "can we meet up if we get out of this?" so "Mochiron" もちろん or "Iyada" いやだ work, but any affirmative or negative or even "Wakaranai" (idk) basically works, and she doesn't really get mad if you say no because, well, you have a girlfriend. Speaking of your girlfriend...
OPERATOR, THE SHUTTER!
1. Attempt to manually close the shutter.
2. Repeatedly shoot the color of the lever that's on top, Yellow Lever -> "Kiiro Rebā" 黄色レバー or Red Lever -> "Aka Rebā" 赤レバー (its funny that red lever yellow lever is hard in english but they ultimately decided not to do the english colour words). "Hidari" will make Rio hide to the left. You can also "Ute" to shoot the guards. The guards will also shoot your lever to slow your progress.
3. Mutō will stop you and try to shoot the familiarly sexy alien. Say "run away" -> "nigero" にげろ to not die.
Murder, Paracelsus, Philosopher's Stone, the year being like 2029 but still using physical disks, etc. If you're not familiar with the story: she explains her dad and Joseph Kraft studied the philosopher's stone together and then Kraft shoots her dad and Rio, but Rio was saved and goes to Japan to escape him. This whole story's ethos is actually based on a debunked study about shouting mean things or being nice to a jar of rice.
4. When voice prompted you need to get Rio back up. "Don't cry" -> "Nakanaide" 泣かないで works. You can say "wakatta" (I understand) or even "aishiteru wa" (I love you). I'm sure you can say plenty of mean things but I'm a simp. Rio still wants to believe your girlfriend is alive and well, so she runs off to find her.

THE FINAL STRETCH
ZERO GRAVITY PASSAGE, LABORATORY and ALIEN GF
You can't "break time" or "nanda" game in zero g, sorry!
1. Manually open the case rio is hanging onto.
2. Go through Hatch A "hatchi A" to "hatchi E". There's a heal capsule in hatch E. If you're okay on heals and can't get to E, skip it and just go to hatch B -> "hatchi bee".
3. When in the laboratory, go to "experiment rack 2" -> "jikken rakku ni" and look up -> "Miageru" 見上げる to get Rio to notice Sayaka's shoe, then manually inspect it.
4. Tell Rio to stop moving "Tomare". Save now if you haven't in a while. Go to the storage booths -> "hokan būsu" and point out the control device -> "Seigyo sōchi" 制御装置 . Manual over to the furthest object to the right on the screen that you can select, and press "ON".
Here comes a frustrating CODE INPUT section. You may want to pause to read this before trying it. If you're playing on emulator, I highly suggest using save states and writing your code down as you go.
Rio is going to tell you a series of numbers and symbols that you have to input on the keypad. You have to get SIX codes in a row correct to pass. She MIGHT sometimes correct herself early on, saying "oh no thats not right" or "no, it's..." so try to listen out for that, for example she'll say "1, 3, and 4- oh no it's 1 3 6" ("ichi, san, no yon- /pauses/ ie! ichi san roku!") so you would enter 1 3 6 and NOT 1 3 4. If you fail, it'll kick you out of the keypad and you'll have to try again. Nothing self destructs though, so it's just a time waster.
* is "asta" (for asterisk) アスタ
# is "igeta" イゲタ
(igeta is a japanese descriptor for the type of 2 x 2 cross pattern)
0 zero / 1 ichi / 2 ni / 3 san / 4 yon / 5 go / 6 roku / 7 nana / 8 hachi / 9 kyuu
"no" の is not a number but a particle,
consider it similar to her saying "and" or "um"
Here is an example from my playthrough:
first code: 9 5 1
second code: 3 8 7 5 1
third code: 2 7 8 asta 9
fourth code: 3 4 6 5 8 asta 4 2
fifth code: asta asta igeta, asta igeta igeta, asta asta
sixth code: 3 4 6 5 8 asta 4 2
You'll notice my fourth and sixth code were the same. Some of your codes may be the same as the above too as it's not a completely random string of numbers, but a set of a few number combinations. Eventually I might have every possible combo written down, but eventually isn't now.
5. When you're done, Rio will float up to where she believes we'll find your beloved girlfriend, Sayaka. Instead she finds a brain in a jar. Hi, daddy! When prompted, turn her dad off- er, turn the power off.
6. Your girlfriend is having a hard time adjusting to her alien makeover. When Rio is choking, say "Sayaka!"
7. Rio asks if she's cursed and this is all her fault. Say "chigau!" 違う (meaning that you disagree; any other negative should work fine too)
8. Rio asks if you'll wait for her to save you. Say "Hai" or "matteru yo" まってるよ (I'll be waiting; I assume any positive works here as well)
WE'RE ALMOST DONE!
The camera direction in this scene is super fun.
Also, congrats on making it this far!
1. (Optional) After the cutscene, you'll be back in the first Zero G Passage. Hatch C will have your last good chance to use a save point, so do so now if you need to, then just re-enter Hatch C when you want to return.
2. Go to Hatch F -> "Hatchi Effu" to start another cutscene. When Rio finds the monitor room, she asks if you can see her and if she can enter, say "Hai" and then "Hai"/"Mochiron". Fun fact, if you don't say "yes" the second time, the camera will slowly zoom in ask she waits for your answer, then the scene will proceed as normal.
This is where the final battle begins!
You control the left rocket with the D-pad while Rio controls the right via your voice commands. The goal is to take out the small flying enemies, then when the barrier comes up, you and Rio must point the rockets at the barrier nodes to take it down, then return to attacking the boss in the very middle. You have a small window of time after the barrier comes down where you can damage the boss by pointing directly at him.
COMMANDS:
UP -> "Ue"上
DOWN -> "Shita" 下
RIGHT -> "Migi" 右
LEFT -> "Hidari" 左
UP RIGHT -> "Migiue" 右上
DOWN RIGHT -> "Migishita" 右下
UP LEFT -> "Hidariue" 左上
DOWN LEFT -> "Hidarishita" 左下
Tips: feel free to pause often, ignore the small enemies when he's vulnerable.
3. Rio needs the password to unlock the evacuation shutters. "Only your [__] can melt my frozen heart". The answer is "Ai" アイ
コオリツイタ
コノココロヲトカスノハ
キミノ アイ ダケ
The only thing that could melt
my frozen heart
is your love.
And that's it!
Congrats on beating Operator's Side. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
Thanks to the creator of the JP Kōryaku Tengoku Operator's Side guide, which was the only way I was able to make it through this game and provide context to English players. There are still a lot of extras and secrets I have to explore, so if you're as interested in this game as I am, check back on this website from time to time. I'll be updating this website with a speedrun guide and a full commands list shortly.
